So what does this mean?<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 <em><strong>Comprehensive in Scope:<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\nSchool Counselors focus on what all students from Kindergarten through 12th grade should know and be able to do academically, career-wise and personally\/socially.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>\u2022 Preventative in Design:<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\nThe school guidance curriculum teaches specific skills and learning opportunities that serve as prevention education.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>\u2022 Developmental in Nature:<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\nSchool counselors offer programs suitable to each student&#8217;s appropriate developmental levels.<\/p>\n<p>School Counseling is an important part of the entire educational program. Counselors support students in three domains: academic, career and personal\/social.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>\u2022 Academic:<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\nSchool counselors help children develop skills that will help them learn effectively.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>\u2022 Career:<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\nCounselors also help students acquire skills that will prepare them to be successful in careers later in life.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>\u2022 Personal\/Social:<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\nEffective school counselors also help children learn social skills and teach children respect for themselves and others.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Programs Offered By Our Counseling Department:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Individual counseling<br \/>\nGroup counseling<br \/>\nGuidance-classroom lessons<br \/>\nCrisis intervention<br \/>\nConflict resolution<br \/>\nConsultation and collaboration with students and parents<br \/>\nReferrals<br \/>\nCareer awareness programs<br \/>\nAcademic planning<br \/>\nGoal setting<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What is School Counseling?
